Privacy
Word & Whisper is designed to collect only the information reasonably needed to provide, protect, and understand the services you choose to use.
Reading progress and local storage
Without an account, reading progress is stored locally in your browser. We also use local or session storage for account-session information and a random analytics identifier. These identifiers are not intended to contain your name or email address.
Optional accounts and authentication
If you create a free account, Supabase processes your email address, authentication information, user identifier, language preference, and synced reading-progress data so your journey can follow you across devices. Supabase also supports confirmation and password-recovery flows. Authentication emails are sent using Word & Whisper’s configured email service. Word & Whisper does not display or store your plaintext password.
Privacy-conscious analytics
We collect limited first-party usage events to understand monthly visitors, return visits, language usage (English or French), reading-plan selections, Bible-reading link clicks, Help Me Understand usage, tracker downloads, newsletter joins, and Support clicks. Analytics use a randomly generated browser identifier rather than your name or email. We do not intentionally place reflection text, passwords, or payment-card information in analytics. Country may be recorded when it is supplied by the hosting/network layer. Analytics are used to operate and improve Word & Whisper.
Study help
Help Me Understand retrieves openly licensed study-note content from third-party Bible-study data services. The passage reference you request may be sent to that service; your personal reading notes are not sent with the request.
Email newsletter and forms
If you join the email list, we receive the email address you provide and any optional reading-track selection. Website forms may be processed by Netlify, and newsletter email may be managed through our email-service provider. You can unsubscribe from marketing email using the unsubscribe link in those messages.
Reflections
If you submit a reflection, we receive the reflection text and any optional display name you provide. Reflections are reviewed before publication and are not posted automatically. If you select anonymous posting, we will not intentionally publish your submitted display name with that reflection.
Payments
Optional support payments are processed by Stripe. Word & Whisper does not receive or store your full card number. Stripe may process payment, device, and transaction information under its own privacy practices.
External services and links
Bible-reading links may open Bible Gateway, Scripture-audio links may open YouVersion/Bible.com, and other links may open third-party services. Those services operate under their own privacy practices.
Data choices
You may use the core reading experience without creating an account. You may clear browser storage through your browser settings. For questions about account data, privacy, or deletion requests, contact us at the address below.
